Governor Manchin Visits. On August 11, Governor and Mrs. Manchin traveled to Helvetia for dinner. During the visit, Governor Manchin committed $50,000 toward the construction of new restrooms for the Community Hall. Check out the photos. Alert! Allegheny Power and American Electric Power have proposed building the largest power transmission line east of the Mississippi with one of the proposed routes going through Helvetia. It appears the power line would cross the valley between town and the cemetery. The Charleston Gazette has a story on the project with links to maps at http://www.wvgazette.com/News/200807240460.
