The Gottlieb Daetwyler Boot & Shoemaker shop is located beside the Helveta Country Store.

Gottleib Daetwyler, Sr. was born at Wittwyl, Canton Aagau, southwest of Baden in 1839. He arrived in Helvetia in 1874 and purchased two lots of land for $15 each, building his house and cobbler shop on them. He lived in Helvetia and made shoes until his death in 1924. His descendants still own the property.

Mr. Daetwyler married Magdalena Scherz in Switzerland in 1861 and, after her death in 1876, he married Lina Wuerzer with whom he had 12 children.
